The Poreč Open Air festival receives the Golden Goat award – Capra d’oro in the festival category
The award ceremony for the prestigious Golden Goat – Capra d’oro award was held yesterday in Villa Polesini. This award has been given out since 1995 by the Istrian Tourist Board. The award is given for outstanding contribution in the field of marketing activities in Istrian tourism, especially in the field of improving products and in tourism promotion activities, products and projects in Istria. This year, as many as 39 applications were received for outstanding contribution in the field of marketing activities in Istrian tourism in the following categories: Events, Innovative Products, Tourist Products, Visual Communications, and proposals to award individuals.
2016 was by any measure by far the best tourist year for Istria, with more than 3.8 million arrivals, more than 25 million overnight stays, and more than 400,000 passengers coming through Pula Airport.
Members of the Committee for the 2016 award were: Anselmo Tumpić, a designer from Rovinj Studio Tumpić/Prenc, Barbara Ban, a journalist from Glas Istre (The Voice of Istria), Nada Prodan Mraković, Head of the County Department of Tourism, and Valter Flego, President, and Denis Ivošević, CEO of the Tourist Board of Istria.
Out of 16 applications received in the Events category, from all parts of Istria, in the best festival category the award was given to Poreč Open Air festival.
The festival of life, the first Croatian festival that lasts all summer long, has in its first year earned recognition for its contribution to Istrian tourism. This recognition is a great wind at their back for an even better and more attractive festival in 2017!

The winner of the innovative product award was the Perfect Experience Creator platform
The award for the tourist product went to Koral d.o.o. for Peteani Hotel in Labin, to Vision d.o.o. for Rivalmare Boutique Hotel, and to the zip line above Pazin Cave for the design and implementation of a unique attraction located in the heart of Istria.
The 2016 Golden Goat – Capra d’oro award for special contribution to the promotion of tourism in Istria went into the hands of Mr. Urban Cerar, the owner of the company Mulino d.o.o. within which the Casino Hotel Mulino operates.
Every year, the Tourist Board gives out a special award to a foreign partner for outstanding contribution in the promotion of tourism in Istria, and this year the Golden Goat – Capra d’oro deservedly went to Mr. Mario Busso, who deals with topics related to wine culture.
A lifetime achievement from the Istria Tourist Board was given with thanks to Mr. Selimir Ognjenović for outstanding contribution to the development and promotion of tourism in Istria.
