Tony Cetinski closes the first Poreč Open Air Festival with a stellar performance on the promenade

The first Poreč Open Air Festival, during which 250 events were held, ended with a stellar performance from Tony Cetinski at the packed Poreč promenade on Saturday, September 10th. Not only did the locals and tourists get the chance to enjoy a performance by one of Croatia’s biggest pop stars, they were also entertained by the band Tri kralja (“Three Kings“), as well as by Laserman, who left the audience breathless with his unique laser beam manipulation act. Last night’s festival finale also marked the last day of the international big game fishing tournament – Offshore World Challenge – Poreč 2016 – which also turned out to be a huge success.

After the awards ceremony of the 2nd annual international big game fishing tournament, the crowd was entertained in the late afternoon hours by Tri kralja, whose performance was followed by Laserman’s laser show. The townspeople of Poreč and their guests have had the privilege of getting acquainted with Laserman before, but since his shows are never the same, the crowd is always left in awe. His performance, which combines excellent music and laser beam manipulation, served as the intro to the highlight of the evening – Tony Cetinski’s concert. The singer, backed by his band, raised the temperature on the Poreč promenade with a rendition of his greatest hits and covers of some classic tunes from world famous artists. He was joined on stage by Alen Bičević, one of the contestants on The Voice, who delighted the crowd of 5000. Cetinski capped off the show with the fitting Zbogom odlazim („Goodbye, I’m Leaving“), thus officially closing the wildly successful festival of life – Poreč Open Air.

The Poreč Open Air Festival has treated the people of Poreč, as well as many Croatian and foreign tourists, to a slew of captivating events ranging from music nights, street performances and movie screenings to entertainment and educational programmes for children and sublime outdoor theatrical performances. More than 50000 locals and tourists were given the opportunity to enjoy 250 events with 250 performers during nearly 100 festival days from June 9th to September 10th.

Davor Brenko, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Valamar Riviera, the main sponsor, partner and driving force behind the festival, is satisfied with what has been achieved: “Taking into account the turnout and the response to the inaugural edition of the festival, I believe that, owing to the support of our partners and the local community, we are on the right track towards achieving Valamar’s strategic goal of developing content marketing with an emphasis on tailored events and unique tourist products. In this way we can increase the competitiveness of the destination and the value of tourism. We would like to thank all our guests, the people of Poreč and our project partners for a fantastic collaboration and we invite everyone who’s interested to join us next year for an even better and even more eventful festival.”

The first Poreč Open Air summer is behind us, but the festival of life will return in early June of 2017 with an even more extensive and diverse programme that will enhance the town’s tourist offer and enable tourists and locals to discover the magic of Poreč and create unforgettable summer memories!
